Dennis Whittaker became affiliated with Coleman Lew in 2014 and brings nearly 30 years of corporate psychology experience to the team.
He uses science to improve the HR performance of his client organizations. The foundation of his career has been understanding people at work. He aims to increase their effectiveness, satisfaction, and success.
In his private consulting practice, his clients range from small, privately owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He performs a variety of services for those clients, including executive assessment and coaching, assessment of candidates for employment, succession planning, training workshops and team retreats, and related functions. He’s interested in helping clients develop stronger leadership talent and is a long-time proponent of real-time feedback.
Dennis’ style is practical and hands-on, but everything he does is rooted in psychological science. He earned a BS in psychology from Louisiana State University and MA and PhD degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Louisville. He’s licensed as a psychologist in North and South Carolina and is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and a past president of the Mecklenburg Psychological Association.
He and his wife have four adult children, and he’s active in the annual “24 Hours of Booty” cancer treatment fundraiser.
Dennis is an avid road cyclist who once pedaled his trusty 10-speed for a 1,000-mile “bike-packing” adventure. He still tries to average 50 miles per week when the weather’s good. He’s also a devoted fan of jazz-rock fusion and travel, if not always by bicycle. He calls himself a “remarkably average golfer.”
