Charlotte, N.C. (June 5, 2013) – The University of North Carolina at Pembroke recently announced the appointment of Dr. John Jones as its new Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.
Coleman Lew + Associates, an international retained executive search and leadership development firm, assisted UNC Pembroke’s search committee in the recruitment and selection of Dr. Jones from a pool of very competitive candidates.
“The committee was very impressed with the size and depth of the applicant pool for this important position,” said Dr. Mark Milewicz, chair of the search committee. “Dr. Jones’ experience and expertise made him a stand-out candidate in a very competitive pool of Student Affairs professionals.” Jones is a North Carolina native who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Appalachian State University, and a Masters of Arts and Ph.D. degrees in Higher Education Administration from The University of Iowa in Iowa City. Jones also spent 15 years in the Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Major. He has extensive experience in student affairs and has dedicated his career to serving university students.
“Our students will immediately identify with Dr. Jones because of his North Carolina roots and life history,” said Dr. Kyle Carter, Chancellor of UNC Pembroke. “Additionally, his military background fits nicely with one of our major strategic initiatives. We are indeed fortunate to have John join us.”
In assessing the candidates for this search, Coleman Lew, working with the UNCP search committee, prioritized the needs and desires of the institution.
